Professional development and experience sharing program for criminal justice practitioners.
It creates a space for understanding the experience and finding senses and solutions that change daily practices of investigators, detectives, prosecutors, judges. This space is created through recognizing different experiences, involvement of practitioners in coaching, synergy of different expertise and a safe environment for the exchange of perspectives.
Standardization of processes and practices helps synchronize the work of the criminal justice system professionals. This is a way to build a real partnership and interaction within the system and a common understanding of the tasks and areas of responsibility of everyone.
Standards of Pre-trial Investigation, Standards of War Crimes Investigation, Standards of Investigative Interview, and Standards of Management are unique practical tools created by JustGroup experts jointly with practitioners to improve the efficiency of the criminal justice system.
The interrogation method, based on the principles of non-violent communication, provides a clear algorithm for preparing, conducting, and evaluating interrogations and is aimed at obtaining the most objective information about the circumstances of the event. It is based on six basic principles of effective interviewing, the so-called Mendez principles.
The introduction of investigative interview is a modern global trend aimed at improving the efficiency of law enforcement agencies. JustGroup is making efforts to make this trend a common practice for every investigator and prosecutor in Ukraine.
A set of tools and measures to ensure the safety of detainees and police officers, by recording all actions that take place with detainees, from the moment of actual apprehension until the court chooses a measure of restraint, or until a person is released from custody.
JustGroup team members jointly with partners and the National Police of Ukraine worked on making Custody Records an integrated part of the police work. This gave impetus to a comprehensive change in the rules for treating the detainees in Ukraine.
Now we are involved in designing and implementing development programs to make this tool work effectively.
In 2023, we outdared to start systematic work on management culture. Jointly with our partners, we implemented the first development program for managers of the criminal justice system and created a management core that will become our partner in developing this area in the future.
We also completed work on an analytical product the Standards of Management in the Criminal Justice System, which allows managers to begin to understand their roles and responsibilities.
This area will be our long-term priority because it is the management culture that often determines how an organization moves and what value the system creates for society.
